WebbPersonally I think the ‘wall of sound’ style doesn’t sound that great. I love the song ‘River deep, mountain high’ but I wish it wasn’t so murky. I get that a totemic all encompassing sonic grandness was what Spector was going for but I think it’s the vocal performance of Tina turner that elevates the song above and beyond, the production is meh.
