Ethernet Ring Protection Switching, or ERPS, is an effort at ITU-T under G.8032 Recommendation to provide sub-50ms protection and recovery switching for Ethernet traffic in a ring topology and at the same time ensuring that there are no loops formed at the Ethernet layer. G.8032v1 supported a single ring topology and G.8032v2 supports multiple rings/ladder topology. Weban Ethernet ring is achieved by ensuring that, at any time, traffic flows on all but the Ring Protection Link (RPL). The following is a list of RPL types (or RPL nodes) and their functions: RPL owner—Responsible for blocking traffic over the RPL so that no loops are formed in the Ethernet traffic. There can be only one RPL owner in a ring.
WebMar 29, 2024 · Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) ERPS is a ring protection scheme for Ethernet networks, and is supported on BTI7000 Series, BTI800 Series, and BTI700 Series equipment.
